The Lake Mead Alan Bible Visitor Center is a gateway to nature and history.

For anyone who wants to learn about the diverse beauty of Lake Mead National Recreation Area, the Lake Mead Visitor Center is located outside the park entrance. There’s no fee to visit, and it’s open daily from 9 am to 4:30 pm.

Lake Mead Visitor Center: What To Do

  • View a 20-minute film on the park, its wildlife, and cultural assets.
  • Visit the exhibit room to view a colossal 3-D relief map of Lake Mead, learn more about some of the wildlife that calls this amazing place home, and discover how humans have used the lake and region over time.
  • Stop at the gift shop for books, maps, souvenirs, and Native American arts and crafts. Your purchases will raise funds for the park’s educational programs.
  • Visit the cactus and desert botanical garden. The garden displays local plants and teaches visitors how to spot birds and butterflies.
  • Chat with the park staff and volunteers, who can assist you by answering any questions that you have.
  • Receive a National Park passport stamp or become a junior ranger.

Driving directions from Las Vegas:

Take US 93 South toward Boulder City. As you enter town, you will see the signs to Lake Mead/Hoover Dam. Stay left, and do not go through the Boulder City Scenic Drive route. After approximately 1 mile, you will exit to the left for the Lake National Recreation Area. Shortly after entering, you will see the visitor center on the right-hand. Pull in and park.
