About the Bellagio Chocolate Fountain:
The Bellagio Patisserie’s chocolate fountain is a remarkable achievement of engineering and design created by a team of skilled individuals. The fountain features six pumps that continuously circulate two tons of delicious chocolate. Visitors can admire the spectacle of chocolate flowing from six ceiling spouts, with a mesmerizing display of white, medium, and dark confectionery-grade chocolate. All of these are maintained at a temperature of 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
The fountain’s design was a collaborative effort, with Montreal artist Michel Mailhot crafting the 27-foot-tall glass-encased structure. Executive Pastry Chef Jean-Philippe Maury and Norwood and Antonia Oliver Design Associates, Inc. contributed to the planning and engineering of the fountain, which took a year and a half to complete. Overcoming various challenges, such as ensuring proper temperature, pressure, and flow of the chocolate, as well as maintaining sanitary conditions, was integral to the project’s success.
Unveiled in 2005, the fountain quickly earned recognition, being certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s largest chocolate fountain at the time. It remains an outstanding attraction in Las Vegas. It holds the title of the largest chocolate fountain in the United States, delighting visitors with its unique blend of artistry and culinary excellence.
