The Wetlands Park awaits your visit!
Covering 2,900 acres, the Clark County Wetlands Park is a vast wildlife habitat and nature viewing area situated on both sides of the Las Vegas Wash. The Wash flows past Frenchman Mountain and the stunning red sandstone of Rainbow Gardens before reaching Lake Mead. The park features miles of paved trails, offering visitors the opportunity to explore its streams and ponds, which are home to a variety of bird and animal species.
Some of the creatures you might come across include the Great Blue Heron, Red-Shouldered Hawk, Spotted Towhee, Red-winged Blackbird, Song Sparrow, Wood Duck, and Northern Saw-Whet Owl. The Wetlands Park is also home to coyotes, which feed on rabbits, mice, ground squirrels, lizards, insects, grasses, and fruits. However, there have been only a few instances of coyotes attacking humans.
The visitor and education center is an excellent place to learn about the park’s ecology and understand the significance of preserving wildlife and protecting Lake Mead and the Colorado River System.
